Good Girls Don't Have to Dress Bad Part 1

Welcome to the Good Girls Don't Have to Dress Bad book blog tour! Shari Braendel's book is exactly what it says it is: help for the fashion-challenged gal like me!

Today is part one, an intro to the book and the author.
Tomorrow is part two, my story and new adventure.

About the Book :

From the product description: In Good Girls Don't Have to Dress Bad, Shari Braendel teaches you how to appreciate the body God gave you and how to always look your best---from conquering the battle of finding the right swimsuit, to choosing how many bangles you should wear or how big your purse should be, to wearing the right style jeans that will best flatter your thighs or hips, to finding the best places to shop to suit your unique personal style.

Many of us are watching reality TV shows to get a clue on how to dress right and look good. We hungrily purchase fashion magazines any time the cover article has something to do with how we can hide our despised body parts. We make mad dashes to the local department store to pick up the new anti-wrinkle cream Oprah promised will take ten years away from our face. We care about how we look. Why is that? Because we're women, and women love to look and feel good. God made us that way. And this is not a bad thing. In fact, it's a wonderful thing.

God loves beauty. He doesn't want us to reflect his image being sloppy, disheveled women of God who don't pay any attention to what we look like. Good Girls Don't Have to Dress Bad will show you how to look and feel your best, no matter what day it is or what the occasion. And it will also stop you from screaming at the top of your lungs, 'I have nothing to wear.'

About the Author:

Shari Braendel

When she gave her heart to God, Shari made a life-changing turn. She could see that so many women of faith didn’t recognize the beauty that God gave them and lacked the knowledge of how to dress themselves with confidence so their outside appearance represented who they were on the inside.

From a very young age Shari devoured every fashion magazine she could get her hands on and listened attentively to everything her mom would teach her about makeup, clothes and style. After earning her degree in fashion merchandising, she started her own image consulting company in Miami, Florida, helping professional women plan their wardrobes. She also re-wrote dress codes for major banks and businesses while continuing to learn everything she could about the fashion industry. After moving to North Carolina she became a Senior Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Successful, enjoying the pink Cadillac lifestyle, Shari heard God whispering about a new direction for her.

With an encouraging heart and vibrant effervescent spirit, Shari warns women to stay away from black, begs them to throw away the “mom” jeans and inspires women to new levels of confidence regarding their outer appearance.

Shari is the fashion and beauty editor of Susie Magazine, the style editor for Clash Entertainment and Radical Revolution and she is a regular contributor for Proverbs 31 Ministries which reaches a half million women every day.

Pattie's Preview:

Am I fashion challenged? Absolutely. I grew up seeking my younger sister's clothing advice, and as we got older I took her hand-me-ups because they were always cuter than my own clothes. Now I always ask my 13-year-old if my outfit looks okay. I've been asking her since she was old enough to give me an honest opinion.

Finally, it looks like I have found the book for me! Tomorrow I'll write more about how I plan to put the things I've learned into practice!
