Book to Movie Reading Challenge

Callista, thanks for a fun and unique challenge! Details HERE.

As I scrolled through Midcontinent's list (and let me just say I LOVE that library system! I still have my card, in fact...), I realized that I do this already! I have quite often gone back to read the book after finding a movie is based upon it, or read the book first, before watching the film.

The Awakening by Kate Chopin (film is entitled Grand Isle)
Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracey Chevalier
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith (review to follow)

Bonus: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling (review to follow)

WRAP UP:
Well, folks, I went back to work so my blogging about books is just not happening anymore!

I did not reread "The Awakening" or "Girl with a Pearl Earring," But I HAVE read them and seen the movies...and I did substitute in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," and I watched all three movies with my 11 year old, as well.

Therefore, I am declaring that I have completed this challenge successfully.

Thanks again for reading and have a super day!

Girl with the Pearl Earring and The Virgin Suicides are both great choices - in both cases, I LOVE both the movie and the book.

Shopgirl was a fun read. Mostly I liked reading it because the ending was different (and better, in my opinion) from the ending of the book.

Happy reading!

A few years ago I went on a crazy rampage reading all kinds of books that were made into movies. Since then I have only read a couple. I am waiting to get Virgin Suicides in my netflix. Ijust LOVED the book.

Looks like you have some fun choices for this challenge! I've noticed recently that a lot of my favorite books are coming out in movie format. Being a movie buff and an avid reader, it's perfect for me. :-)
