I love books. I always have. I have been reading for 40 years now, and I can't ever get enough of reading, learning, growing, thinking, smelling, feeling, and simply enjoying books. Books are like constant friends. They're my collection. They are some of my favorite things to have around me.
While I had participated in the 31 Days project last year, I had already told a few friends I was not going to participate this year. Then this idea came to me one day while I was substitute teaching. I was looking at all the books the students were reading, and I started remembering books. I thought about how many of the books I read in school were meaningful to me and influenced me, and I came up with the idea of writing about these books for each of the days in October as a part of the 31 Days of Writing project.
I read a lot of books. I strive to read 100 books each year. Thus, my criteria for choosing the books for October required me to narrow down the hundreds to the few books that have had the most influence on me personally, that were particularly memorable, and that hold special meaning or significance for me in some way.
Some days I have one book on the list, while for others I have a series or grouping of books. Through all of them I will tell you my story. You will learn a lot about me and what literary influences have helped to make me into the wife, mom, woman, and teacher I am today.
If you want a preview, you can see some of the covers pictured in my series graphic. Some days will include more than one book, as I already stated. Overall, I think I have a pretty decent mix of fiction and nonfiction (with one play in the mix), and the age range of the books includes children's, young adult, and adult books. Links to each day's post will be added below.
I hope you enjoy this series! I can't wait to get started.
